Young Environmental Scientist (YES) 2014 is a research programme for students, conducted by IWMA. The research programme aims to encourage young students across the state to develop scientific innovations in the field of environment. The students with best environmental research projects are awarded the Young Environmental Scient Awards
Details & Requirements:
Levels of Assessment: Participants will be assessed on two levels

Junior Level : Class VIII - X
Senior Level : Class XI - XII
Project Team: Team Shall consist of 1 or 2 members assisted by Mentors/Facilitators from within school or outside.

Models: Participants are required to stimulate working models demonstrating innovative alternatives or solutions backed by adequate data

Evaluation: The competition will be judged by a panel of experts.

  • Resource Conservation / Utilization
  • Solid Waste Management
  • Alternative Fuels
Awards: Awards for each level will be:
  • 1st prize: Rs. 25,000
  • 2nd Prize: Rs. 10,000
  • 3rd Prize: Rs. 5,000
  • Two consolation prizes
  • Award for the Best Mentor
  • Merit certificate for all participants
 

Project Proposal Format

A brief outline of the research project, identifying the nature and scope of the investigation, research methods and anticipated conclusions and/or applications. (Must be to the point and limited to 250 words)

The Young Environmental Scientist Award 2012 was held at IIT Chennai in February 2012. The programme is conducted mainly to motivate and support school children to carry out experiments and share research findings on various environmental issues. Around 45 schools participated and the programme was received well by all. The event was presided over by Mr. Ajit Narayanan, Founder and Managing Director Invention Labs Engg. Products Pvt. Ltd. The presentation of the prize winners was broadcasted in Doordarshan in the month of March 2012.
