Reverse Vending Machine - Koyambedu

Adding another feather on the cap of the movement for Beat Plastics, the grand inauguration of the Reverse Vending Machine was held on 05-06-2019 (World Environment Day) at Puratchithalaivar Dr. M.G.R. Bus Terminus at Koyambedu, Chennai.

The Machine was inaugurated by Thiru. K.C. Karuppannan, Hon’ble Minster for Environment, Govt of Tamil Nadu and the first bottle was dropped by his golden hands by operating the machine with the help of the touch screen installed in the machine for perfect disposal.

The function was graced by Thiru. D.Sekar, Member Secretary, Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board and the officials of Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority.

This is the first High Tech Reverse Vending Machine placed in a public place. The machine has the capacity to accept 5000 empty plastic bottles through its crusher and container. The public, who drop the plastic bottles at this machine will be provided a gift coupon with which they can get a discount of 5% upto Rs.100/- and 10% above Rs.100/- for refreshments and 20% for a stay in a nearby hotel.

Services to Schools

IWMA has also in its run made some useful contributions for schools including constructing a compound wall facility for an elementary school in G.R.Kandigai village near Gummidipoondi.

Amongst other activities we have also provided financial support towards Exnora's initiatives on environmental protection.
